I have a mild — okay, severe — obsession with Chipotle’s salads. Just ask my boyfriend. Every time we’re going out for a quick dinner and he asks what I want, I say Chipotle steak salad. Him: “Thanks for being honest, but let’s not get that AGAIN.”
Sighhh, but I could seriously eat it every…

I love cooking with fresh ingredients.
I made french fries and veg sloppy joes today, with a side of broccoli…and it was delicious. Yesterday I had a hummus & veggie crepe with cheese and bistro sauce from my favorite cafe…. I’ve been doing really good lately. There’s been a little bit of snacking, but I make up for it with water and healthy food. Overall, I’m happy.

I had a few days that I tried to eat healthy but there was too much dessert (mom’s work picnic….ugh!) and other days that I just had a really bad day and needed to eat Cheetos and drink Hawaiian Punch. But I HAVE been trying!
I’ve been eating healthy whenever I can, and walking and running. I made veggie stir fry with tofu & rice noodles on Sunday… and last night I...

Another goal: GET MORE SLEEP.
All of a sudden it’s past 1 am…and I’m still awake! I need to work on this, because it’s a very big part of being healthy. Also… I’m hungry again. Definitely time to go to sleep.

Day ONE!!
So, today was the beginning…. and it actually went extremely well!! I was planning on getting up early to use the Wii Fit and have breakfast, but that didn’t happen because I was very tired and felt icky….so I ended up sleeping in way too late. I’m only weighing myself twice a week, on Day One and Day Four, so I don’t get too obsessed with a “number.”

A post about my goals/thoughts...
I’ve been thinking a lot over the past few days, about what I want to get out of this, and I’ve realized a few things….
This is NOT a weight loss, food or fitness blog. I don’t want to lose a large amount of weight, I love food but am not dedicated enough to have a blog about it, and I’m definitely not a fitness buff. This is just my journey to lose a few pounds,...

Some of the resources I am using...
I have a few books, very cheap ones, that I bought about nutrition and exercise. “Beach Body Basics” and “Core Training” are among them, along with many many cookbooks.
I’m slowly finding a wonderful list of online blogs and other resources, and I will create a links page later.

Recently, I got an email from reader Brooke, who asked a question I get fairly often:

Oh yes, the plight of the healthy college student! Low on funds, but high on aspirations to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Before I get into some tips and tricks for Brooke, let me say one thing…
I will definitely need to keep this in mind when I move to Minneapolis to live on my own (well,...

Anonymous asked: Hi, I’ve been a vegetarian for a few years now and I think I have a pretty healthy diet considering my mom has a degree in dietetics, but I was wondering what nutritional things in general do vegetarians often not get enough of, and what other foods could be really helpful…

A little bit about me...
I’m a 20 year old from the midwest, looking to make a few changes in my life. I’m not an unhealthy person by any means; I’ve been vegetarian for 3 years, I don’t drink alcohol or smoke cigarettes and I don’t eat fast or (much) overly processed food. But, I do have my weaknesses; Mt Dew being one of them. I’m not going on a diet and I’m definitely not going...
